NHL picks: Anytime goalscorer best bets and predictions, Friday 5/3

Check out Tony Sartori's NHL picks with anytime goalscorer best bets for Friday, May 3.

NHL games tonight include two pivotal matchups as the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs continues. I have two NHL anytime goalscorer picks for the nightcap of tonight's action: Stars vs. Golden Knights at 10 p.m. ET.

Betting on NHL anytime goalscorers is simple enough: If your player scores a goal at any point in the game, your bet is a winner. MLB has its dingers; the NHL has its anytime goalscorers. And with both types of player props, the bets usually come with plus-money odds attached to them, so they're a favorite among all types of sports bettors.

Check out all of the analysis with my favorite anytime goalscorer predictions for tonight's NHL postseason action below.

Stars vs. Golden Knights

Friday, May 3, 10 p.m. ET, TNT & truTV
Jason Robertson (+200, FanDuel)

Game 6 between the Dallas Stars and Vegas Golden Knights gets underway on Friday evening. Dallas forward Jason Robertson scored the eventual game-winner in Game 5, marking the third game of the first five in which he has found the back of the net.

I believe this trend will continue on Friday. Two of those three goals came on the power play, a category in which Robertson ranked second on the team this season.

That is worth noting because Vegas finished the regular season ranking in the bottom half of the league in penalty-kill percentage. These special-teams woes have continued into the postseason as the Knights rank 12th among the 16 playoff teams in penalty-kill percentage. So, it's not shocking that Robertson scored on the power play in both Game 2 and Game 5.

In fact, Robertson has now scored 11 goals over his past 19 games against the Golden Knights, and we'll hope for more of the same on Friday.

Pick: Jason Robertson (+200 at FanDuel)

Stars vs. Golden Knights

Friday, May 3, 10 p.m. ET, TNT & truTV
Wyatt Johnston (+195, FanDuel)

I'm risking a half-unit on Robertson to score along with another half-unit on his teammate Wyatt Johnston.

I am fairly confident that at least one of these two guys will find the back of the net, which would guarantee a profit. And, if both score – all the better.

Johnston has undoubtedly been the best offensive player in this series. He leads the Stars in goals, shots on goal and expected goals per 60 minutes.

In fact, Johnston ranks fourth among all playoff skaters in that category. This brings us to the Knights, who are surrendering high-danger scoring chances at a high rate.

Among the 16 playoff teams, Vegas ranks second-to-last in expected goals for per 60 minutes (xGF/60). At +195 odds, it is worth taking a shot on Johnston to score for the fourth time in three games.

Speaking of +195, that is a particularly great line via FanDuel as it is 30-55 cents longer than the rest of the market at the time of writing.

Pick: Wyatt Johnston (+195 at FanDuel)
